Airline Operations Center
Office
2015
Fort Worth, TX
This airline built their new operations center to withstand F3 tornadoes and maintain 24/7/365 uptime. The mix of heavily reinforced concrete and 2-inch-thick tornado glass made cellular communications inside impossible. Over 2,000 employees use their cellular devices in the 150,000-square-foot call center, so capacity and throughput were key factors in choosing a MIMO design. AT&T and Verizon installed multi-band MIMO base stations, and Sprint provided a fiber link from a previously installed base station. All carriers were integrated on schedule for the building’s opening.
